Commencement Ceremonies 2013

In June, European University (EU) celebrated three Commencement Ceremonies, at the university’s Munich, Montreux and Barcelona campuses. The events recognized the achievements of the students and congratulated them on their hard work.

Following on from the Asian Commencement Ceremony, held on March 31, the second of this year’s graduations took place in Munich on June 1. Graduates, accompanied by proud family and friends, congregated in the stunning Hotel Bayerischer Hof for the ceremony, where they were treated to a commencement address by former Prime Minister of Belgium and current Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD, Yves Leterme. Guests were then invited to enjoy refreshments in the Ballroom Cocktail Lounge followed by a three-course dinner in the roof garden.

A week later, the Swiss campuses came together with graduating students from London at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace. Peter R. Vogt, Deputy Executive Vice President Nestlé S.A., Head of Human Resources and Center Administration, delivered the commencement address, and Adolf Ogi, former Prime Minister of Belgium, also spoke to captivated students.

The Barcelona campus celebrated in style at the Hotel Pullmann Barcelona Skipper on Saturday, June 15. EU’s MBA Director, Alistair Charles presided as the master of ceremonies, introducing the keynote speaker, Patrick De Maeseneire, CEO of the Adecco Group, who inspired students and guests alike with his career advice. Guests then stepped outside for cava and canapés on the hotel’s sun-dappled terrace.

Since the founding of EU, in 1973, the university has awarded over 25,000 BBA, MBA and DBA diplomas to students from all over the world. The 2012-2013 academic year saw more than 700 students complete their studies successfully and receive their hard-earned degrees.
